Ask Ben: Creating A Fixed-Field-Width Data File With ColdFusion
I need to create a fixed length data file. Is there an easy way to make each #field# a fixed length? For a web developer living in an environment that ignores white space, this can seem like a daunting task. Unless, of course, you know about the LJustify() and the RJustify() functions that ColdFusion comes with. The LJustify() and RJustify() methods justify a value to the left and right side of a fixed-width string respectively. Both take two arguments: the value and t ... Read More » (translate)

Surviving the crisis with a Darwinistic approach
Customers are cutting down budgets. Projects are being postponed or even cancelled. Less work (and consequently less money) is coming in and Web agencies (not unlike other companies) start considering layoffs. I've been thinking quite often lately about the possible effects of the economical crisis on our sector. With the dotcom crisis of 2001 in [...] (translate)
Fun - Fur engine
I was working on a fur engine for images just for fun, inspired by a post on Andre Michelle's blog. This is a funny way to create more detailed images. I'm happy with the application I created. Since today you can see and use it. The idea is very simple; Add a link to an image (jpg/png/gif) and the engine will create a furry image for you :) It automatically saves your hairy image, so you can send it to your friends or set it as desktop. Learning Paths provides help content according to role
There a new web site that guides new users through the process of learning Flex. It organizes a variety of examples and tutorials based on the role that you select. You can choose a learning path for developers, designers, managers, or architects. Each path leads you to a series of tutorials, videos, code samples, and documentation links. Here's the URL: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/learn/ While this site might not have alot of new content, it provides a new way of exploring existing content. It ties together information from Adobe resources such as the standard Flex docs, DevNet, and The Edge newsletter, plus outside (translate)
